Beaufort Park is located within the North London area of Colindale, primarily in the borough of Barnet, although its western edge crosses into Brent.

Beaufort Park itself is built on the site of the former Hendon Airfield. Many of Beaufort Park's streets and buildings are named after the area's aviation history, and the nearby Royal Air Force Museum also pays homage to the area's aviation heritage.

At the time, Hendon Airfield boasted many historic rights. Britain's first long-distance flight took off from an airfield, as well as the first parachute drop from a powered aircraft and the first night flight at Hendon. In the 1920s and 30s, the annual Hendon RAF Display was a social occasion to rival Ascot or Henley Regatta.
