A lettings manager has won more than £12,000 from her former employer for discrimination and non-payment of wages during pregnancy.
Kelly Anderson (pictured), who currently works for a major estate agency chain in Middlesbrough, was hired part-time by Taichi Estate last year while pregnant.
She claimed Tisch, based in Stockton-on-Tees, did not pay her properly during the eight months she was there.
“Hurt feelings”
The Employment Tribunal agreed and awarded her a total of £12,302.84, including £7,796 for lost earnings and £4,000 for “emotional injury”.
The company, now dissolved, failed to pay Ms. Anderson when she attended her maternity appointments or when she was absent due to pregnancy-related illness.
Ms Taish also failed to pay pension contributions to Ms Anderson from May to September 2023 and did not pay them in full during the notice period.
Her claim for pregnancy-related discrimination contrary to the Equality Act 2010 was “well-founded and successful”, the court said.
sexism
Earlier this year, London-based property management company R&F Properties QS was ordered to pay a woman who temporarily joined its workforce £90,000 after an employment tribunal found her guilty of discrimination on grounds of sex. It was done.
And last year estate agent Statons was ordered to pay more than £46,600 to a property consultant for disability discrimination and unfair dismissal.
