Managing Agent fined £17k for not licensing HMO

Kent's managing agent was slapped with a fine of £17,500 after it was found to be renting an HMO without a license on Parrock Street in Gravesend (pictured).

The agency not named by the Gravesend Council is one of two local operators paying a large fine. Unnamed private property is to pay £10,000 after illegally operating the HMO on Granville Road.

The two fines are part of the Council's new willingness to crack down on illegal HMOs after issuing amnesty to all landlords who do not register HMOs via the Council's mandatory scheme, which costs £807 per property. It's the club.

Councillor Carina O'Malley (main image), a cabinet member for housing services, said the incident serves as a warning to others and as a warning to keep the house organized.

“We have a great relationship with the vast majority of Gravesend's private property, who work hard to ensure that our tenants live in safe and proper accommodation,” she explains.

“Last year we worked hard to reach the borough landlords, ensured proper licenses and worked with people who needed our help to get them.

“Now, for the benefit of local residents, we are pursuing people who do not have a license. These two cases are just the beginning. We actively investigate others. We will follow up on the intelligence we receive.”

O'Malley added that the HMO is not too late to register them. 「私たちは、自治区のすべてのHMOが、執行措置を伴う家主やエージェントを追求する必要があるのではなく、安全であると認定されることになります。」
