The Bury Council is granted government funding to help target fraudulent landlords and improve PRS safety standards.

This initiative is part of the department for Level Up, Housing and Community Pathfinder Projects featured by Councils across the country.
Low quality
It provides financial support to local governments, focusing on raising their enforcement profiles in particular, in order to tackle real estate in the least quality private rental sector in the least favored areas.
Berry says landlords will be fined up to £30,000 for breaching the rules. So far, two private property has been hit hard by penalties of £10,000 and £23,000, resulting in greater fines for unsafe electrical equipment poses a fatal electric shock to both tenants and visitors.

Cummins, a Cabinet member of the Council's Housing Services, said: “The majority of landlords provide safe and decent accommodation for burial tenants, but a few uncruel, discreet landlords do not maintain the property or perform important safety checks such as electricity or gas.
“Some people allow properties with serious risks that could put the health and safety of tenants at risk. We will not hesitate to take action against landowners who do not cooperate in raising these homes to the norm, using these tough new civil penalties up to £30,000 if necessary.”
