Preston protesters form “human shields” to block “illegal evictions”

Tenant activist group Acorn comes to the defense of Preston residents facing evictions and mobilizes members to prevent what is called “illegal removal.”

The local branch of the Community Union branch is asking supporters to form “human shields” outside Miguel's Broadgate home to block enforcement officers.

He believes that it can overthrow tenants' rights and make humans homeless without following the law. It's not our watch. ”

According to a post on Acorn Preston's Facebook page, “Miguel's landlord is driving him out illegally! He believes he can overthrow the rights of his tenants and make humans homeless without following the law. It's not our watch.

“The landlord doesn't give him a copy of the rental agreement, so he cannot claim universal credit. He cannot pay rent because he cannot claim UC.”

The protest argues that the tenant rights bill has moved through the Senate and that housing charity shelters are standing up to win an imminent rule change.

A real work

A spokesman for Acorn told the Lancashire Post: “The landlord is a real piece of art, so you need to have as many people as possible to make things go troubling.

“With that in mind, take your friends, family, or anyone you think you can make it. One person can be the difference between keeping a Miguel in his home.”

With branches throughout the UK, Acorn is increasingly involved in prominent eviction cases, regularly mobilizing community members to prevent enforcer duties and pursue legal challenges to eviction notifications.
