Why is it called Black Friday?
American imports began in the middle of the last century, when retailers would hold huge sales after Thanksgiving in the hopes of drawing families in with heavily discounted goods. The idea caught on across the Atlantic – who doesn't love a bargain? – and Black Friday has now become a much-anticipated shopping event for British bargain hunters.
