Spotlight Interview: Spring

In our latest Spotlight interview, we spoke with Samar Shaheryar, co-CEO of Spring. Samar shares Spring's journey to date and how its solutions simplify the buying and selling process and adapt to an ever-evolving industry. Q1 – What inspired Spring to be founded and what changes have you seen in the industry over the years?

Spring was born out of a desire to revolutionize the UK residential property market, having long seen the challenges faced by homeowners looking to sell their homes. Traditional real estate sales methods can leave homeowners facing uncertainty, frustration, and long periods of time during an already stressful major life event. Spring wanted to create a solution that would provide a faster and more reliable way to sell real estate.

Q2- Can you tell me how Spring simplifies the buying and selling process and what makes this solution different from traditional property management companies?

Spring provides an end-to-end service that allows homeowners to sell their homes quickly, without the hassle of showings or home renovations, and without the uncertainty of whether an offer will go through. Spring gives you more control and peace of mind during the home selling process by offering a Fair Price Sale Guarantee with a reasonable closing date. Spring will take care of everything, including the subsequent sale of the existing property.

Spring also acts as a trusted B2B partner for the real estate industry, providing part-exchange services to a wide range of new home developers and retirement service providers, helping them drive more sales and improve the customer journey. We also work closely with estate agents to provide bespoke chain repair solutions, so if a chain link breaks we can step in and ensure all parties can move forward without delay.

Q3- How does Spring integrate with partners, especially conveyancers, to facilitate smooth real estate transactions?

Spring uses an advanced digital platform to connect with your conveyors, allowing for real-time updates and efficient communication. This integration streamlines the exchange of necessary documents and information, reducing delays and errors. Spring also provides dedicated support to conveyor personnel to assist and resolve any issues that may arise during the transaction process.

Q4- How specifically does Spring support clients looking to downsize their homes and how is this impacting homeowners?

There is a wealth of data and anecdotal evidence showing that larger family homes tend to sit on the market longer than smaller homes. Being at the top of the chain may mean that the sale is dependent on multiple other transactions to complete successfully. If any link in the chain fails, the entire chain can collapse. This means many people considering downsizing can feel trapped and frustrated by the process. Especially feeling the financial burden that a larger property can carry and waiting months or even years before selling and moving on. Spring frees sellers from these pain points and allows them to seamlessly downsize, or simply “right-size” their property to suit their current lifestyle and situation.

From an industry perspective, we work closely with retiring developers to provide customized part-exchange services and acquire properties for those who need to sell first before downsizing to development. This has definitely been one of our biggest growth areas in recent years.

Q5- Looking ahead, as emerging technologies such as AI, virtual tours, and 3D modeling tools gain traction, does Spring plan to integrate these innovations to meet the evolving needs of today's buyers? How are you preparing for this?

We are 100% customer-driven, never satisfied with the status quo, and always thinking about what's next. We have started using AI in our training materials and also have the pioneering MOVESMART platform to create property valuation reports for each property we submit an offer to. In partnership with Propalt, it uses AI and pulls data from multiple sources to value properties, including comparable properties on and off market, properties sold, property structures, local planning history, local Research amenities, location characteristics, and more. No other tool offers such a comprehensive view.
