The 2022 edition of Rightmove’s Happy at Home survey has been published. For those familiar with the survey, it will come as no surprise which area of London has been ranked number one for the eighth year in a row.
What makes a happy place?
Responses to this survey tend to factor heavily into community spirit, green space and cultural activities. This year has been a tough year. As is often said, humans are social creatures. When the going gets tough, we seem to prioritize the sense of belonging that comes from living in a good community. This is a theme that has come up many times in the Local Stories series. Rightmove said in this year's survey that “a sense of local belonging is the most important factor”.
The Happiest Place to Live in London…again
Richmond upon Thames has been named the best place to live in London.
Richmond's town center is home to a wealth of brand names and high-end boutiques, cozy pubs in light-dotted alleyways, gourmet food at every turn, and residents enjoying ice cream. There is a large green space to sit with a sweet from the cream bun or a beer from the adjoining pub. watch cricket. Richmond's community is friendly and active, with many local events taking place throughout the year. If you're looking for an adventure, Richmond is well-connected. Ham House, Hampton Court Palace, York House, Orleans House and Marble Hill House are all worth mentioning. Cycling, golf and boating are all popular in the area, and the borough is also home to the national team's home stadium, Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

Richmond upon Thames is the only London borough on either side of the River Thames and is also home to Richmond Park, the largest of all London's royal parks. We make the most of the rich riverside scenery and lush natural landscape. Enjoy a beautiful walk along the river, stop at restaurants and pubs, and watch the colorful boats go by. Climb up Richmond Hill for stunning views of greenery and rivers winding through as far as the eye can see. If you live in the area, it's easy to find the perfect Sunday afternoon stroll.
Richmond homes are very attractive in terms of location and style. The streets are lined with large, elegant period buildings, and some of the most spectacular wisteria can be seen here during London's spring flowering season.
