A Preston property company may appeal an employment tribunal decision after being ordered to pay £28,000 to a former employee in an unfair dismissal case.

Gillian Bevan worked as Sales and Business Support Manager at Michael Bailey Estate Agency for two and a half years from 2020 to 2022.
She claimed unfair dismissal from the company, and the court agreed that “the unfair dismissal claim is well-founded and successful.”
The court added, “Plaintiff's claim for breach of contract for unauthorized deductions from wages/fees and expenses is well-founded.”
Possibility of appeal
Company owner Michael Bailey (main photo) told The Neg:
“We continue to maintain that we acted in good faith as an employer and followed all applicable procedures.
“We will now take the time to review this decision with our representatives and consider next steps, including the possibility of an appeal.”
Companies face a variety of claims, including not just unfair dismissal (as in this case), but also sex discrimination and constructive dismissal, but such payments are rare within the industry and Only a few companies reach arbitration.
