Blooming orchid: plant care
Let's be honest, we've all bought an orchid at the supermarket and ended up with a stick still in the pot. Thankfully, Kew also offers tips and advice for getting your plants to bloom regularly. Below are some highlights.
Phalaenopsis is one of the easiest varieties to care for and is perfect for beginners. Wait until the plant is dry between waterings, then water from above. Use rainwater if possible. Phalaenopsis orchids like to be watered, especially if you live in a hard water area. Minimum temperature: 15℃ Once the flowers have finished, cut the panicle (stem) about 3cm from the base.
