London boroughs come under fire as landlord complaints soar

Ealing has the highest number of tenant complaints against landlords in London, according to a freedom of information (FOI) request by campaign group Public Interest Lawyers.

FOI requests were sent to all parliaments in England and Wales, with 252 responding.

The results showed that between 2019 and 2024 Ealing received 7,764 complaints, but only three were prosecuted, all of which occurred in 2020/21. Last year there were 2,273 complaints. However, it does not include the number of fines and rent repayment orders issued to landlords.

Nearby Brent had 1,015 complaints and 31 prosecutions last year, while Hounslow had 3,597 complaints and 16 prosecutions.
